Celebr8MK Diversity parade
29th of August saw a good LGBT turn out on a rather changable day for Celebr8MK. The parade was joined by Milton Keynes Mayor for the march around CMK.
I am pleased to report we had three trans folk on the parade this year, I hope we will be able to build on that for 2011.
A huge thank you must go out to PinkPunters for bringing the bus along and providing the stage, PA, music and tea. :)
Well done everybody.
27 year old Kellan Carter, has bravely spoken out in a Milton Keynes Citizen interview about the years of abuse he’s faced during his transition. Forced to move from his Shenley Brook End home, because of ignorant attitudes that have even confused his transexuallity with a paedophilia. He now finds himself facing the same abuse in his current home in Emerson Valley.
Kellan said to the Citizen : "All I want to do is live a quiet life and be left alone. But instead people shout abuse at me when I step out the door."
Kellan added: "its like I've caused all this trouble just because people think I'm weird. I'm just hoping if the Citizen tells my story, people will stop shouting abuse at me."
At Trans:MK we want to offer Kellan our full support in his fight against the ignorance he faces.
You are not alone Kellan.
